Make Jar Lantern Using Glow Sticks

Playing with glow sticks is a great fun irrespective of the age groups. Kids really enjoy doing it. Why should we suppress their interest by just letting them play with glow sticks. Lets show them some interesting crafts using these glow sticks so that they will learn as well as play at the same time. Its a nice summer activity which makes the kids more creative in their thoughts and actions.

There are a lot of things which we can make or craft using these glow sticks. It is difficult to teach the kids all at a shot. So, for this time lets concentrate on how to make a lantern using glow sticks.

For this activity all you need are so simple like glow sticks of different colors, glass jar, water (warm or cold).

The process is also so simple. Let us check how it goes.

Take some glow sticks either of the same color or multi colors.
Activate them by bending it till it glows. When you heard that crack sound shake it well to make it more brighter.
Now take the glass jar and fill it with water. If you want your glow sticks to glow for longer time add cold water. But this will effect its brightness. If you want your glow sticks to glow more brighter add some hot water to the glass jar.
Place the glow sticks either single colored or multi colored in the glass jar and set them perfectly.
Once you make sure that they fit in the jar comfortably cover them with the lid tightly.
Now shake the jar in order to mix the sticks and they will also glow bright after doing so.

Your glow stick lantern is now ready and you can use it for different decorations. Once all the glow sticks are faded you can change the water and can add some more new glow sticks to your lantern. This glowing lantern is perfect for night occasions and candle light dinners.

The Innumerable Underwater Species

We all know that earth is covered with about 70% of water. And oceans and seas are 97% of all the water. There are a vast number of species under these waters, which we couldn’t yet explore to full extent.

There is a big project going on to find all the oceanic species. This is a big one because it is not that easy to explore the deep oceans. It is almost like counting stars of a galaxy. According to the studies, there are around 230,000 sea species discovered so far. And scientists say that they might be able to discover a million more species by 2010.

The main disadvantage for us not yet discovering many species underwater is that we can’t help them from getting extinct. There are many species underneath oceans which have become extinct even before we got to know them.

The main cause of their extinct is due to climatic changes which is nothing but because of our increased pollution.

Piranhas are more savage than sharks

The most savage thing after sharks is the piranha. Though small in size, it is very dangerous fish, and more savage than a shark, I must say.

Piranhas are named for ferociousness. But the name for them has come from Portuguese terms of piro which means fish and sainha which means tooth. Piranhas possess small teeth enough to fit their size, but these teeth are the main weapons of these fish. These are razor sharp, with an interlocking pattern, fitted to a strong jaw. This makes them easy to devour their food including the strongest bone. Their teeth help them only to tear down their meal; hence they cannot chew their food. Thus when they bite big pieces of flesh they just gulp them down. Piranhas are very greedy thus devouring at their meal very fast.

Piranhas move only in groups. This is what makes them more savage. A group of piranhas can drag some big animal on shore into the water. While piranhas are dangerous, hungry piranhas are more savage. They also rely on dead bodies in water.

Does Bone Marrow Cure Aids?

Yesterday I have read in the news paper that scientists found cure for AIDS. It is good news for us because; many people are suffering from HIV. Now there is a chance for all of them to become a normal person. There is also a call for universal immunization for AIDS. These developments are giving a new hope to the most of the African and Asian nations who are severely affected by this threat.

A person who is suffering with immune deficiency virus will have AIDS and also leukemia. The researchers also found treatment for leukemia, it is bone marrow transplantation. They will replace the patient’s cancer dead cells by healthy donor immune system.

Though Schneider, the doctor who performed the transplant told after the victorious relocate, no HIV is found in the patient. It is not sure whether it is complete cure for AIDS and Leukemia or not. It is a great thing done by Mr. Schneider. We have to appreciate him for his work.

Susan Lucci gets only 24 from Judges

From past few years, dancing reality shows increased rapidly on televisions and celebrities are also participating in this reality shows. Actress of “All My Children” Susan Lucci participated with Tony Dovalani as her professional partner in ABC’S popular dance show and this couple got eliminated on Wednesday, November 5, 2008.

Total scores in the show were 30 and this couple received only 24 for their performance on Monday after combining the viewer’s votes with judge’s score, the Daytime Emmy-winning soap star, Susan Lucci was dismissed from the show.

She was depressed by the elimination but before leaving the show she said, “I have earned most incredible experience form here and I leave with a life time experience, something which I never forget in my life and thanked the people for giving such a wonderful opportunity.” Before the performances of the participants on Monday, November 3, 2008 the participants were split into two groups and the elimination much talented actress on Wednesday.

Lucci was in competition with team Cha-Cha with actor Cody Linley and singer Lance Bass who scored only 20 from the judges but the viewer’s votes saved the Cha-Cha team. Everything in life depends on the destiny.
