Know What are the Causes of Tooth Sensitivity?

Tooth sensitivity is due to the exposure of dentin layer, which is sensitive and is the inner layer of enamel of the teeth. This enamel is an outer layer of tooth which acts as a bullet proof coat. When the dentin is exposed, these it can be stimulated by changes in temperature or certain foods. Wherever enamel layer of tooth is lost, dentin is exposed and makes you feel pain. And also sensitivity occurs due to drinking of hot and cold water, eating sweet and sour foods,etc,.

Causes of tooth sensitivity:

  • Brushing with too much force or brushing with hard bristles of tooth brush can cause a tooth sensitivity.
  • Eating acidic food foods such as lemon, pickles and sauces.
  • Using teeth whitening products for, teeth whiteners have a chemical that causes sensitivity to the teeth.
  • Using mouth washes and tooth pastes.
  • Excessive residue of plaque in the mouth.
  • Whenever a tooth is cracked and also placing of dental devices such as braces, crowns etc,. for the teeth in the mouth.
  • Grinding of teeth, wrong brushing, tooth decay are some of the causes for tooth sensitivity.

By being aware of these causes one can avoid the tooth sensitivity by taking appropriate measures.
