List of the Sports in Summer Olympics

Olympic games are international sports, different types of sports are conducted. This is the multi sport event and it is one of the important and popular international events through out the world. Different sportspeople and lovers of the sports around the world look forward and different countries around the world eagerly wait for hosting such games.

Modern Olympic games which are conducted today, are supported by ancient Greek Olympic sports. There are different sports which are conducted in summer season, such as;

Archery: This sport was introduced in 1900 in summer Olympic games. This sport is regulated by International Archery Federation.

Athletics: This one of the sports of Olympics. This sport was started as the part of the summer Olympic games, when modern Olympic movement was introduced in 1896. There were different events included in athletics such as 100 to 10,000 meter races, hurdle races, relay races, marathon races, long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault and shot put,etc.

Aquatics: There are four disciplines, such as diving, swimming, synchronized swimming and water polo, these sports are a part of the aquatics.

Badminton: In 1992, this sport was started in the summer Olympic games. There are 4 badminton events held such as singles and doubles for men and women. In 1996, mixed doubles even was introduced.

Basketball: This sport became part of the summer Olympics from 1936. This sport was played as a demonstration sport in 1904 and 1924.

Still, there are different sports such as Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Equestrian, Fencing, Field Hockey, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Judo, Modern Pentathlon, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Weightlifting, wrestling.

These are the different sports which are conducted in Olympics in summer season in host cities throughout the world.
